Secondary School Academics
STT Regency College has a rigorous academic schedule that prepares students to enter university and other post-secondary institutions. Classes are small which helps to promote interactions between students and faculty. Individual is guaranteed within the classroom environment. Students must graduate with 60 credits rather than the BC Ministry of Education requirement of 52. Also the student must successfully complete a second language to the Year 11 level where their eligibility is confirmed for IGSC and………

Secondary School Mathematics
Students at STTRC follow only one stream of Math – Further Mathematics. Students are enrolled in Mathematics until Year 11 which is the ministry requirement. Then it is considered an elective. More than half of our Year 11 Math students enroll for math Year 12 and  consequently calculus Year 12. Students in year 11 and 12 are required to do a block of math every day, with an additional class every other day.

Secondary School Sciences
STTR College currently offers Chemistry, Biology and Physics to students in the secondary school. We have two fully equipped and serviced laboratories and two more new state of art laboratories under development as part of our school facility expansion.

Secondary School Languages
Languages are very important to us at STTRC. The Ministry of Education only requires students to study a second language until Basic Year 9. However, at STTRC, students study a second language until Basic Year 11. Local UK and Canadian Universities require a second language studies at the Year 11 level in order to meet entrance requirements.
In Year 7, all students study French up till Year 9. In Year 10 – 11 all students study French and German or Spanish or both, if student wish they may continue to study the language in Year 12 and then write the terminal examination.
In addition many students whose foreign language is not English often choose top challenge a language course and write the provincial examination for credit.

Humanities – Cultural
This course is intended to achieve three things: first, to give students a purposeful background in the development of Western European cultures and Nigerian cultural heritage; second, to help them develop an appreciation for the arts of the Western tradition as well as African tradition; and third, to give them sufficient grasp of the precepts of the Christian Church and its history to allow them to understand references and allusions to Christian symbology and tradition in Western literature, music and fine arts.
Students will be introduced to central concept in theatre, literature, music, sculpture and painting. Students will be given tools with which to achieve a better understanding of other courses in the humanities, such as English, History, Political Science, philosophy and Fine Arts, They will be introduced to new ideas and areas of interest which they may continue to explore from a firm foundation as they go on through the rest of high school and into university.

Secondary School Visual  Art Program
Our secondary art program provides a realm for students to express opinions, to reflect on social issues, to develop self – confidence and most importantly – to be creative!
Students in Basic Year 7 through 12 have the opportunity to take art as a curricular subject.
STTRC  value teaching the traditional principles and skills of art, with the understanding that art in the classroom is not always about making beautiful objects. Art at STTTR is viewed as a combined process of passionate emotions, deliberate thoughts and ability expressed through a variety of media.
Many extra- curricular opportunity also exist for the creative artists in our community: stage design, art club and various student council art competitions.

Secondary School Music
The STT Regency College program’s motto is “Music is Life.” The music program at Regency College is designed to develop the individual in instrumental music through the guitar, violin, percussion and vocal music through voice classes. The music program is run on the following assumptions:

  1. Music is integral to our development as people.

  2. Music is both an individual and a shared activity.

  3. Music is an art where one can learn through imitation of great works and also express ones individual creativity.

Music can be expressed through a variety of means, from the simplicity of a single voice through a fully realized multi – track digital production.
At the Year 8-9, students learn basic guitar and singing technique and some music history in both the classical and popular music fields. Drama forms part of the curriculum from Year 8 through to Year 12. Year 10 Drama students involved in an intensive acting programmed that exposes them to team dynamics, various dramatic forms which leads to numerous acting opportunities in front of the school community.

Secondary School Drama Program
Drama forms part of the collective Fine Arts curriculum from Year 8 through to Year 10. Year 11 and 12 Acting students are advanced through a rigorous performance schedule where they act, direct and produce their own work.

Drama Year 8 – 11
These courses are designed to encourage an appreciation for Drama as a creative art and to develop concentration, creativity, self-confidence and social awareness through performance. They emphasize the active exploration of a set theme using material from that themes authors and playwrights. An introduction to creative Drama in the form of mine, theatresports, simple improvisations and basic theatre skills and props are also staples of this programme.

Outdoor Education Program

At STTRC, outdoor education involves students in active, engaged and intense experience of outdoor education are fundamental components of the physical, social and intellectual development of students. These experiences foster a sense of global interdependence, a shared responsibility for the earth and a positive connection with its environment.
Trips take place at Year 7-10 level. Classes go as a group and trips change location from year to year. Each year is full of challenges appropriate for the development and age of the student STT Regency College takes a very responsible approach to outdoor education and there is a very strict risk management policy in place to make sure no one is put in jeopardy. Students challenge themselves by choice, and if they do not feel comfortable with the activity, they may comfortable with the activity; they may opt for a different types of challenge.
